Hidden island countertop support bracket

Why stone needs support.

Granite, quartz, and quartzite are heavy. Where a countertop hangs past the cabinet or sits on a knee wall, it needs the right support underneath. The only way we install is the right way, with proper support.

  • Seating overhangsBar and island seating that extends past the cabinets. Up to 12" of overhang on granite and quartz with the right support, and we check every one at template.
  • IslandsSupports for island tops, whether you keep your layout or change it.
  • Knee wallsHidden brackets for countertops that sit on or past a half wall.
  • Inspected at templateDuring the digital template, your space is inspected so we're properly prepared for installation.
  • Out of sightHidden brackets sit under the stone, so the support doesn't change the look.
  • Additional chargeSupports and brackets are priced separately and shown on your quote.

The right bracket for the job.

Keep your layout, or change it.

*Modifications may extend the project timeframe. We'll tell you how at your estimate.

Support and bracket questions.

Don't see yours? Call (410) 875-7579 and ask a real person.

How much overhang needs support?

It varies with the stone and the layout. As a rule, we require a 2-to-1 ratio of supported to unsupported stone, with a maximum overhang of 12" for granite and quartz. For more fragile materials we may recommend 10". We inspect every overhang during the digital template to make sure it's properly supported, and we won't install an overhang in an unsafe way.

Will I see the brackets?

Hidden brackets sit under the stone, out of sight. If a visible support is the better choice for your layout, we'll talk it through with you first.

Can you change my layout?

Yes. Whether you keep your layout or change it, we handle supports and hidden brackets for overhangs, islands, and knee walls.

Can you cut down my knee wall?

Yes. We can cut down a knee wall so everything sits on the same plane, one continuous countertop.

Do I need legs or corbels?

Often not. Hidden brackets can support many overhangs without legs or corbels. We'll recommend the right support for your layout at the template.

Are supports and brackets included?

They're an additional charge, listed on your quote. We'll let you know at the estimate if your layout needs them.

When do you decide what support I need?

During the digital template, your space is inspected so we're properly prepared for installation. The only way we install is the right way, with proper support.
