A sintered slab made from fine clays and minerals, pressed and fired at extreme heat. The result is dense, non-porous, and very hard, in a thin slab that can carry almost any look, from Calacatta marble to concrete.
Different, not better. Porcelain handles heat and sunlight better than quartz and works outdoors; quartz is thicker, more forgiving on edges, and offers more edge profiles. Tell us how you cook and where it’s going, and we’ll help you choose.
Yes. It’s UV-stable, so the color won’t fade in the sun, and it handles freeze and thaw. That makes it one of our go-to recommendations for outdoor kitchens.
Porcelain is highly heat resistant, but we still recommend trivets. Sudden, concentrated heat can stress any countertop, and trivets protect the finish.
No. It’s non-porous, so it doesn’t absorb stains and never needs sealing. Clean it with mild soap and water.
Because the slab is thin, porcelain is usually finished with an eased edge or mitered to look thicker. Decorative profiles like ogee aren’t practical on porcelain. Our designers will show you what works.
Close cousins. Dekton is a brand of ultracompact sintered surface made by Cosentino; porcelain slabs are made by manufacturers like Atlas Plan and Xtone. Both are fired at extreme heat and live much the same way. We work with both. See our Dekton colors.
Yes. Visit our Eldersburg showroom (Mon–Fri 9–5) or Columbia showroom (Mon–Fri 9–5, Sat 10–3), and we’ll confirm any color with a real sample before anything is cut.
It depends on the line, the color, the thickness, and the size of your kitchen. A free in-home estimate gets you an exact, itemized number.
Most projects install 6–12 business days after we template, and most standard kitchens are installed in one day.
Seams are covered under our 10-year labor warranty, and if you get a chip in the first year, we’ll come fix it for free.
