The short answers. A designer gives you the long ones, in your kitchen or at the showroom, with the slabs in front of you.
| Material | The look | Sealing | Heat | Stains & scratches |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Quartz | Consistent color and pattern. Marble looks, solids, concrete looks. | Never | Use a trivet for hot pans | Non-porous. Resists stains and scratches. |
| Granite | Natural stone, one of a kind. Speckled to heavily veined. | Light sealing now and then. First 3 years on us. | Handles heat well | Sealed granite resists stains. Very hard to scratch. |
| Quartzite | Natural stone with a marble look. Soft, flowing veining. | Sealed like granite. First 3 years on us. | Handles heat well | Harder than granite. Sealed quartzite resists stains. |
| Marble | Classic veining. Timeless, naturally cool surface. | Sealed. First 3 years on us. | Use a trivet for hot pans | Etches with acids and develops a patina. Best where it will be babied a little. |
| Soapstone | Matte, deep gray to black. Darkens with age. | No sealer | Handles heat well | Non-porous. Softer stone; scratches blend into the patina. |
Every quote is itemized, so you see the countertop, removal, plumbing, and accessories as separate lines. Not sure which way to go? Ask a designer.
Whichever material you choose, the rest of the experience is the same.
Old countertop removal and disposal, plumbing reconnection, backsplash, and supports and brackets are optional services, each its own line on your quote. Most customers have us handle them because it makes the whole project extremely easy and the pricing is competitive. It’s your call.
Our Eldersburg showroom has full slabs in stock, next to our fabrication facility. Our Columbia showroom has large-format quartz and stone slabs. When the stone you want isn’t on our floor, a large network of wholesalers helps us find it.
The only vested interest we have is making sure you find the perfect stone. Whether it comes from our inventory or our wholesaler network makes no difference to us. We love happy customers.
Quartz colors: quartz. Natural stone: granite, quartzite, marble, soapstone.

“GranitePro directed us to a wholesaler with the most gorgeous Fantasy Brown marble slabs we ever could have imagined. Our cabinet and backsplash selections were inspired by the perfect stone slabs. Their superior team of installers gave us real kitchen art, and even followed up with a post-installation visit. Go with Granite Pro.”
See them at either showroom or on a free in-home estimate. Colors are on the quartz page, and what it costs is in the quartz cost guide.
Quartz is our most popular material, but it isn’t right for every kitchen. Granite handles heat well, is UV-stable for outdoor kitchens, and every slab is one of a kind. For homeowners who cook heavily or want a countertop nobody else has, granite is often the better answer. It needs a light sealing now and then; any resealing it needs in the first 3 years is on us.
Quartzite is a natural stone frequently confused with quartz; they are completely different materials. Quartzite is harder than granite, more heat-resistant, and often produces looks that rival the best marble. If you want a true natural stone with a marble look and maximum durability, quartzite is worth seeing in person at either showroom.
Dekton is an ultra-compact sintered surface: zero porosity, extreme scratch and heat resistance, and UV-stable for outdoor use. It’s the right call for high-demand kitchens or outdoor cooking areas. We carry Dekton alongside our full stone lineup.

Three decisions that change how a countertop looks and feels, all made with your designer before anything is cut.
Most people pick cabinets and countertops from different companies on different timelines, then hope it all looks right at the end. Here, the same designer plans both in the same conversation, so the stone, the door style, and the backsplash come together on purpose. The design is free.
We design and supply the cabinets. Installers we trust and refer install them, and we schedule your countertops around them. See cabinets.

“The templater who came to measure was highly skilled, and pointed out many minor details that I never would have thought of. Overall, it was great to have everything taken care of by one cohesive team.”
