Important — Read Before Your Appointment
Rescheduling & trip charge policy
! If We Cannot Template

If our templator arrives and is unable to take measurements — for example, because cabinets are not installed, the driveway is blocked, or access to the job site is not possible — a $250 trip charge will apply and your appointment will be rescheduled to our next available date.

! If an Item Is Missing

If a single item hasn't arrived yet — such as a sink or cooktop — your template may still proceed in some cases. However, installation may be pushed to our next available date. Contact us before your appointment if anything on your list is not yet on site.

If anything in this guide is unclear, call us before your appointment at (410) 875-7579 — no question is a bad question.

Cabinets & Structure
Must be in final position before template

Everything that supports or affects the countertop must be installed and in its final position before our templator arrives. Check each item below.

✱ All items below must be checked before you can continue.

  • All cabinets installed and level in final positionBase cabinets, islands, peninsula runs — all set and level.
  • All panels in final positionRefrigerator panels, dishwasher panels, door panels, end panels — all installed.
  • Support brackets, corbels, island legs, and cleats installedAnything that physically supports the countertop must be in place.
  • Plywood, drywall, and sheetrock completeAll substrate work behind and around cabinetry must be finished.

Farm Sink Requirements
If applicable to your project
⚠ If Applicable

Does your project include a farm sink?

  • Farm sink set in final position — 1/16" below top of cabinetryThis allows our team to slide the countertop on without damage. GranitePro cannot template without the farm sink in place.
  • Sink positioned to allow shimming from belowThe installation method must allow our team to shim the sink up to the underside of the countertop once set.
9
Full-Height Backsplash Requirements
If applicable to your project
⚠ If Applicable

Does your project include a full-height backsplash?

  • Electrical outlet boxes installed flush with drywall in final position
  • All electrical, ventilation, and plumbing rough-ins in final positionIncludes vent hood ventilation rough-in and wiring.
  • Wall cabinets installed — do NOT install crown molding or light rail yetCrown molding and light rail must wait until after the full backsplash is installed by GranitePro.
  • Wall cabinet adjacent to stove may need to be temporarily removedOne wall cabinet on either side of the stove may need to be removed before our installation day and reinstalled by you or your contractor after. Our team will advise you which one.
  • Do NOT install vent hoods, cooktops, faucets, or overmount sinks before full splash installThese must be installed after the backsplash is in place.
  • For pieces going to the ceiling — anchoring is installed by your contractor AFTER we finishLarge ceiling-height pieces require trim, light rail, or crown molding for support. Your contractor installs this after GranitePro completes the backsplash — not before. This is the customer's responsibility to coordinate.

General — Workspace & Access
Applies to all jobs

✱ All items below must be checked before you can submit.

  • Clear all items off countertopsRemove everything — coffee makers, dish racks, fruit bowls, paint coverings, tools, small appliances, and any decorative items.
  • Clear and unobstructed access to the workspaceNo large items blocking access — refrigerators waiting to be installed, boxes, furniture must be out of the way.
  • Clear path to the job site from the entranceOur templator arrives with equipment. Make sure hallways, doorways, and the driveway are clear and accessible.
  • Secure all pets in another roomWe love animals — but a pet bumping the templator's tripod mid-measurement can invalidate the readings and require a reschedule.

Contractor Information
Send a copy of your checklist to your contractor

If you have a contractor working on your cabinet installation, we recommend sending them a copy of this checklist. They need to know what must be ready before our templator arrives — especially cabinets in final position, panels set, and any applicable farm sink or backsplash requirements.
